Quote for Today: There is one thing which gives radiance to everything. It is the idea of something around the corner. G.K. Chesterton
The year 1982 was a special year for me. I had just started college, high school was far behind me and I was on my way to Wimbledon, or so I thought. The Lord was good to me, my doubles partner and I won the final match at the Sun Belt Conference Championships. While in the friendly confines of the N.E. Louisiana University, no air conditioning and no lights plus a $2 a day per Diem, we claimed our prize, the N.I.T. In the short span of one week, we beat McNeese State, UNLV, University of California and University of Kentucky capturing South Alabama’s 1st National title.
At this same time, the Los Angeles restaurant, Spago,
owned and operated by Wolfgang Puck and Barbara Lazaroff was flying high. Spago Restaurant
Over the last thirty years, these two have built an empire. I wish that I had known at the time my love for food and had quit chasing athletic glory. Hindsight being 20/20, I missed the opportunity. Yet, you never know what is right around the corner. We wish Wolfgang, Barbara and the recently renovated Spago the best. Chef Puck opened the door for true restaurant Icons. More about men and women of vision will be coming at you soon.
